Ty – Two Malamutes Are Better Than One
Well, we had so much fun with Zoey, that we decided that two Malamutes are better than one. It took us only a few months to get to that idea and immediately we went to talk with Ayelet Shushan again, but this time, about a male. We also wanted to make sure, that the male will be able to breed Zoey so we had to wait for the right litter.
Fortunately, when Zoey was about 6 months old, Ayelet told us the she will be breeding one of her females, Victory, with an Italian dog (Del Biagio kennel) and the bloodlines were a perfect match to Zoey (meaning no family relation) so we decided to go for it.
On the 28th of June 2011, Ty was born, or in his full name, Ty Spirit of Ayla Alaskan Beauty. The first time we saw him, he was about 3 weeks old, we entered the room exactly when the puppies were playing rough and loud and¬†it was hard to find the chosen puppy (Aylet had picked the one she thought was the best match for us), when suddenly one puppy stood up in the middle of all the mess with a proud stance and started barking on the rest. It was then Ayelet pointed on that puppy and said “IT’S HIM” and the rest is history.
It took him a few days to get his confidence up. It was very noticeable because he didn’t want to eat that much, just drink water (he actually slept next to his water bowl). Some toys and a lot of playing around the house and all fear s disappeared. He got to a point he was so confident, that he would climb on the sofa, pee on it and then call us (bark) to help him get down (he was still very small and was afraid to jump).
Ty is a very friendly Malamute, a gentle bear, especially when compared with Zoey. He has an almost human look in his eyes, sometimes, it even feels like he’s a person in a Malamute costume. Although in many aspects he is very different from Zoey, he too is very protective, he sometimes even barks just because he sees us arguing loudly with another person.¬
